Senator Joe Biden came away with one of the more memorable lines from tonight's Democratic Presidential Debate on MSNBC when he took a shot at President Bush and went after Rudy Giuliani and his lack of qualification to be president.

Biden: "...And the irony is, Rudy Giuliani, probably the most under qualified person since George Bush to seek the presidency, is here - talking about any of the people here. Rudy Giuliani. I mean think about it, Rudy Giuliani, there's only three things he mentions in a sentence -- a noun and a verb and 9/11 and I mean, there's nothing else. There's nothing else."

A classic line ........That one is gonna' be replayed through the rest of this century

that kind of joke would have been funny before 9/11 changed everything

Hey Hey! he also mentions his love for his wife/cousin a few times too.

medlakeguy @ 2:

Yeah , it changed Rudy's family .............

Again

I'd love to see Biden in a debate with any of the (R)s....

that was truely classic.

I heard Rudy has already posted a response:

"9/11! Terror! 9/11!"

see? no verbs. he's getting worse.

Where was the rest of his answer going? It gets cut off short. Some times Biden seems more like a stand up comedian than a contender, but that's cool

I'm glad Biden didn't go after Hillary. But I'm disappointed that I did not hear the crowd cheer and roar when I listened to Kucinich. I was sitting right here cheering all by myself.

Ralph Nader is right, America is owned by corporations now (recent C & L clip). That is why a fucking idiot like Rudy Ghouliani even has a snowballs chance in hell of becoming president. It's frightening and very very sad. And I'm afraid that most of the democratic candidates are going to just ride the corporate wave. We are screwed.

I like Biden's attitude. But it's Kucinich I'll vote for.

I thought Edwards did the best, and Kucinich did the most with what little time he was given; but the best sound bite of the night definitely goes to Biden.

Any man who would admit to seeing a UFO at a debate is a man who has zero chance of winning the electoral support of the American people.

Should he have lied?

Which are real -- UFO's or WMD's?

I still like Kucinich's gumption, this interminable election season is way more laughable than his UFO comment!

Biden hit the nail on the head with his blast on Giuliani . There is no one more ignorant then this man but George Bush. Putting him in office would be like another eight years of Bush and it just makes you sick to even think about it.

I doubt if Rudy's handlers/PR crew can come up with a snappy, neutralizing line before the ridicule damage is done.

From here on out, everyone is going to be counting: Noun. Verb. 9/11. ...every time the guy opens his mouth.

Who knows? It may even force the guy to actually come up with something besides the noun, verb, and 9/11. Won't that be interesting?!?!?!

So true Mr. Biden. Although he has added "you don't want Hillary, so pick me" to his repertoire. The worst part is that everybody knows it is true, and he is the best that the GOP has to offer.

As opposed to claiming a special connection and having a 'direct-line' to the mythical , invisible , all powerful deity of the universe who is surrounded and aided by those who look human but sport wings ?

That sure makes a lot of sense.........

when rudy married his cousin, do you think he did it with an eye on the southern christian/klan vote?

As far as the "Noun + Verb + 9/11 = Giuliani Vocabulary," you have to remember that Giuliani has to speak in that Neandrathal dialect so his base can understand.

I could smell the desperation of the other candidates the way they went after Hillary.

LOL, they should all drop out now.

Biden is hilarious. He (and Hillary) are the perfect senators. Not so much for president or an ambassador, he always talks too much. Doesn't hurt him in the senate though.

If Biden doesn't win the nomination, they should at least ask him to write down some good one-liners for the debates. Kucinich is also good with the one-liners.

Because Chimpy looked strong and secure with a receiver/transmitter taped to his back ?

I think he carried a little water for Hillary. But nice to see someone slam the nitwit.

Rudy Giuliani, probably the most under qualified person since George Bush

If that's true (and I think it is) then put a fork in it, the Republican primaries are as over as when Cheney was put in charge of finding the best VP. Giuliani is the next Republican meat puppet for the U.S.

No, because Kerry was a babbling fool.
ANYWAY, I'm just pointing out what a juggernaut the Hillary campaign has become. Edwards in particular is wetting his diapers. Obama I thought did quite well as it stood. I still think he can't compete with the team Hillary has going.

honestly Guiliani would probably do well in some federal operations sort of director type position. I mean he really helped clean up and create new business in Manhattan (although he did sort of inherit it in that "Clinton inherited and didn't create a budget surplus" neocon false point sort of way).

but president?!?! Guiliani?!?! lol... ohhhh man... the LAST thing we need is some unqualified guy with a big ego and bigger aspirations, inheriting THIS mess!

Biden handled the question against Hillary masterfully.

How he isn't running against Hillary, that he is running to lead the country.

I want to see more of this from all our Democratic candidate.

I think Biden just set the bar of "why you should vote for me". Instead of "don't vote for the other person " (hoping to get their hate vote).

And Bush definately recieved the Kerry hate vote as he also recieved the Gore hate vote.

not one word on the liberal blogosphere about the corporate censorship that happened tonight on MSNBC. No One cares about free speech? Or a man with credentials and solid solutions being allowed to debate with featherweights?

Didn't catch the whole "debate" but it should've come up if they're going to slice & dice her for actually showing up to work that day. I used to do sea fishing on the beach at night, you see a lot of weird meteors and lights in the sky when no fish are biting,
that is a shooting star aka a meteor. Most come in steep angle and just burn up or travel through the atmosphere.
The weirdest one came in at a shallow angle, skipped off the earth's atmosphere a few times, appearing to wobble, then disappeared back into space, most burn up and fade away into nothing.
That one was bright white and fast, occasionally a rare reddish one, sometimes green ones (space junk burning up)
One rather weird and fun sight was two powered Mil paragliders with single navigation lights on them, we watched these two tiny red lights silently and slowly approach along the coast a few thousand feet up, then make a right turn up the estuary.

Snap! Awesome!

I don't think I'd be quick to forecast "smooth sailing" between now and Novemeber 2008. Judging from the past 6 years, there are sure to be a few "surprises".

It's cool and all that he's poking at Rudy... but that wasn't the question....

It really annoyed me that they had the cameras set up to showcase (i.e The Price is Right type of showcase) the 2 most unqualified candidates, for what seemed to be 90% of the time.

They showed and questioned Clinton & Obama more than all the other candidates combined.

In competence & experience it should be running Biden/Gravel/Dodd, Kucinich, Richardson, Edwards, Clinton & Obama.

I personally am supporting Dennis, he railed hard for impeachment & clearly questioned GWB's mental health!

http://www.google.com/search?q=Dennis+Kucinich+questions+President+Bush%...

He nailed it.

Rudy = Bush, the only difference...Rudy doesn't mangle the English Language every time he opens his mouth...

I read comments like:
"Is there any doubt that Hillary is going to be the Dem. nominee?"
or
"It’s like nobody told him Hillary is kicking his ass in the polls."
And I completely understand where they're coming from. I hear the same thing from the news and from pundits about the latest reports and poll numbers.

But doesn't it seem a bit odd to anyone else that months before a single vote has been cast, we are well on our way to solidifying our collective "mindset" on who will win the primary? Poll results might very well have validity, although that probably varies greatly based on any number of factors. But then again, in over 20 years as a voter, I've personally never been polled about how I was going to vote in an election. Still though, we keep hearing all these percentages with their +/- margin of error, day in and day out, and it's hard not to start going along with the consensus of who's a lock and who's a loser.

I guess I'm just worried that one of the reasons for low voter turnout is that many people start to believe it's a foregone conclusion who the winner will be, so they figure, why bother? And others, who might really prefer a candidate like Biden or Kucinich, vote instead for a "top tier" candidate because they feel like they're "wasting" their vote otherwise.

What came first, the chicken or the egg telling us that the chicken was a shoe-in?

I don't have a solution to offer, but I'm disturbed by the implications of elections being thought of as "over" long before voting was ever begun.

The media seems to have already decided the major players. It's Hillary and Rudy. Clinton will of course be the favorite if the MSM while Giuliani will have the backing of the "most powerful name in news"...Fox. They are already in full swing promoting Rudy and trotting out the same old tired mantra of "higher taxes" and fear of terrorism. I'm afraid that once again the American people are going to fall for this baloney, so get used to the idea of President Giuliani. The Democrats have no idea how to fight back against this tactic, as witnessed by Reid and Pelosi looking impotent against Bush. The White House must be having a great laugh at this.

But just like telling your daughter that she is not going to date that freak, the people are now going to be drawn that much closer to Rudy...

Rudy isn't Bush. Bush has a different agenda. Bush loves loyalty, bush loves corporations, bush loves being leader even though he's very poor at it. Rudy loves Rudy. Rudy loves to be evil and a liar. Rudy loves Rudy. If Satan herself popped in front of Rudy and offered a deal for his soul to be president Rudy would gleefully junp at it because Rudy has no soul. Bush does. It's small and well insulated but since he values loyalty so well, there is a soul there. Rudy just loves Rudy...
